Michael Mewshaw is the author of five previous books of nonfiction -- among them, Short Circuit: Six Months on the Men's Professional Tennis Tour -- and nine novels, including Shelter from the Storm and two that are the basis for the films Year of the Gun and Blackballed. He has published hundreds of articles and reviews in the New York Times, Washington Post, London Observer, and other newspapers and magazines around the world. He lives with his wife, Linda, in Key West and London.
